When no word seems enough in the face of an unimaginable tragedy, Chief Adviser Prof Mohammad Yunus said what answer he would give to the parents who lost their children. “A training jet crashed into a school building, and many students were burned to death. The entire countrymen became stunned like me. We can’t imagine such an accident could take place,” he said. Nobody expected it. But we suddenly had to accept this incredible thing said the chief advisor, adding that the training plane crashed and fell on the children. He also expressed deep shock and extended sympathy to bereaved family members and called upon the countrymen to pray for them, seeking their eternal peace. The chief adviser asked people to avoid unnecessary crowds at hospitals for the sake of the smooth and proper treatment of the injured children. At least 20 people, including the pilot, were killed and 171 injured after a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) FT-7 BGI fighter aircraft crashed into a building of Milestone School and College in the Uttara area of Dhaka on Monday. Out of the 171 victims, the condition of 25 who are now being treated for burn injuries at various hospitals is reported to be critical, according to the attending physicians of the hospitals. Earlier in the day, the Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed minutes after it took off from AK Khandaker base at Kurmitola around 1:06 pm due to a technical glitch, according to the ISPR.
According to the spokesperson of the Milestone School and College, the aircraft crashed near the school gate while classes were underway.
